A day in the life of…

Awake to the sound of streaming music gradually growing louder, a faint warning quickly growing into a siren.

It’s go time! I roll out of bed to hastily brush my teeth and pull on shorts, a t-shirt and running shoes. Yesterday was high-intensity training; today it’s back to hitting the pavement. Ear buds in I take a two mile run through the neighborhood, watching the pink tones of sky change to blue and the world slowly begin to awake, become alive. The beat of hit-hop music keeps me on pace and the wind beneath my feet makes me feel closer to nature, much closer to being alive, being myself.

My perfect days are imbued with the sound of music.

A hot cup of coffee flavored with white chocolate mocha is next up as I start my day on my balcony with a view of the ocean. I love great bodies of water because everything feels bigger near water as it goes in and out. A single drop in the ocean has an incredible story and limitless possibilities for exploration. Seeing water makes me feel the same way, as if I’m just a drop of water in the ocean with unfulfilled possibilities.

A single drop in the ocean has an incredible story and limitless possibilities for exploration.

My mornings are time for productivity. Even though I’m a night owl I prefer to get most of the work out of the way before heading out for the rest of the afternoon/evening. My focus is on technology and inbound marketing, however I also spend time working on the last installment of my best selling fantasy book series.

Afternoons are when I have time to go on an adventure and expand my knowledge of the country I’m temporarily staying in. My evenings are the best times, full of energy, friends, people and events. It’s life and the best life is lived surrounded by those you love and meeting others who will become important in your life.

A perfect day is not filled with things or places, however it is full of feelings, experiences and opportunities. There are many moments in life which I attribute to being perfect, and those moments added up are the sum of a perfect day.

I have perfect moments each and every day and most of those moments are because of the attitude I have adapted in life.

I strongly believe that you do not have to become what others expect you to become, and if negative pressure continues to confuse you and pull you down, it’s time to sever those connections. I believe going against the grain should be the new normal and staying true to who you are is more important than answering to a call outside of yourself which will never make you happy. Stay true to your heart and enjoy those perfect moments, whether it is a whole day or 30 minutes when you wake up and realize life is truly worth living.

Writing has always been a form of stress relief in my life.

Every since the age of twelve I’ve been creating my own characters and worlds. At first writing was simply for myself, a dream out of wisps of thoughts, imaginations, and the things made of clouds…intangible. However I’ve found that sharing those precious moments and lighthearted fantasies is just another reason to write. Without further ado please enjoy this excerpt:

Gwyn’s Tale: A Young Adult Adventure Fantasy

Gwyn's Tale“I made sure to show up at breakfast, my Aunt was going to see me that day to know I had not run away. But as I grabbed my packed dinner, I know no more dilly-dallying, no more chores, no more working for Auntie, I was going straight to the forest. I did lead the cows to pasture, but then started across the field with nothing but my frayed overalls and my dinner. My legs were a little shaky, for I was doing a bold thing. Every time I looked at the dark Forbidden Forest my strength quailed within me.

My heart was thumping louder than the farmer boy across the way was yelling at his dumb cow that was eating up our garden. I said goodbye to the freshly turned dirt, squelching under my bare feet and oozing between my toes. I said goodbye to the brown fields full of stubble and plants just beginning to grow, to the dew on blades of grass, the wide sky of promise and everything I had ever known. I didn’t know how I’d far, but all the same I was going to the Forbidden Forest, never to be seen by anyone in my village again.

If only I had known my Aunt had sent a spy to follow me. They pay large amounts of money for maids in the Little Country, but how was I supposed to know? I was just beginning to clearly see the great, luminous trees when I heard a thunder of hooves behind me. I looked and saw the law coming down on my head. The authorities were chasing me, to bring me back, but I could not, world not go back. I saw their arrows pointed at me and panicked. I was on a long, wide plain, and there was nowhere to hide, no way I could run to the forest and reach it before them.

But, as that was my only hope, I ran off, bare feet flying over the ground. Two arrows whizzed past quickening my pace, but the forest seemed no nearer. I glanced back in a frenzy. Closer their great horses came, and now their aims were surer. I pounded my feet across the grass, but my breath was coming short for fear they would catch me, I could run no faster.

Suddenly I felt a fire of fury slide into my shoulder…

I’d love to hear your thoughts as more stories as always in the works!

One of the many pursuits in life, besides the American Dream of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness is self-fulfillment. Even growing up I already knew I did not support the traditional dreams of a young woman, that is, going to college, meeting the One and having a house full of babies by the time I turned 30 (although there is still plenty of time for that!).

Being a workaholic was a given, having always wanted to work I found it was something I enjoyed, besides if you love something why stop doing it? Now as an innovator who runs off the beaten track I have new goals of not only working in a corporate situation but also focusing on freelance projects. In that note I’ve calmed down and stepped away from additional part-time jobs to spend time building a client base. My self-fulfillment comes from helping others get their projects off the ground and running, much like a kite, and I’m the wind. If you have any projects that need wind, email me.

Otherwise let me know how you find self-fulfillment?

It’s embarrassing when you have a friend but never talk to them or see what they have to offer. That’s what happened with me and Goodreads, one of the best websites for bookworms, in my opinion. Goodreads and I have been tweeting together for months, but I never went to their website until I received a recommendation. Trust me, sharing this site with my fellow bookworms was addictive, lost three hours of my life and I still can’t get enough. Join the movement because Amazon.com already beat you to the punch. Now that the word’s out, I’m returning back behind the pages of a good book.

Readers,

As you have noticed by now my blog tends to focus on many topics including general interest, new technology, good reads, places to buy shoes etc. Check out on a personal note for more reasons why. I keep this blog as a journal for creative release and believe some of you-not the broad consumer market but the small creative niche market – might be interested in reading, liking, sharing and commenting on different topics. So far so good.

I could focus on the book I self-published: Gywn’s Tale a short young adult fantasy.

I could focus on 45 Days of Shoes and fashion trends via Instagram.

I could focus on being a freelance entrepreneur and how gaining clients and working on projects is fun and exciting.

However there are plenty of sites that have a very focused blogs and messaging. So without further ado here are my three tips on defining your focus:

  1. What are you interested in? What are your passions? Because you’ll be writing about something you know you’ll be able to provide better tips suggestions and recommendations for your readers.
  2. Define your market. We can’t all be Wal-Mart a one stop shop for everything! Where do you go for fashion advice? To Wal-Mart or to the fashion blog where you saw some unique trends you’d like to add to your collection? If you have a travel blog I want to see pictures and if you’re sharing unique gadgets well your blog just became by gadget go to blog. My weird gadget pick of the day: It’s a lamp, it’s a book it’s a lamp book
  3. What happens if you don’t have a focus? Nothing. Not to say that you won’t get readers, likes and re-blogs it will just be harder to find a place to share your message.

Yes I am preaching to the choir. Carry on writing and share a link to your focused or unfocused blog. What are the pros and cons you have found?

A few days ago one of the trending hashtags on Twitter was #threewordstoliveby. Mine were “never give up”. I recently stumbled upon the Suitcase Entrepreneur and found more inspirational words to live by, coaching, tips and trips to becoming a successful entrepreneur.

Enjoy my favorite selections and let me know what are three words you live by?

Words are never going away…obviously, here were are on the internet storming about social media, marketing, networking, promotion, gaining leads (and on and on and on), yet the one element all these strategies have in common is reading words. Think about it, where would the world be if no one could read? Right back to where we started catching fish with sticks?

Personally reading and writing has had huge impact on my life. I used it as an emotional release, a way to tell my story, share my thoughts, dreams, and create a new possibilities. I even went as far as to self-publish an action/adventure short story and still have more plots and characters to write to life on a piece of blank paper. It’s my way of sharing a piece of myself, what ways do you share? Join the conversation by posting a link to your work.
